About Me
Hello! My name is Lisa Daughters (she/her/hers). I’m a therapist serving New Mexico, Texas and Arizona virtually through telehealth. I have 14 years of experience working with a variety of people and concerns. I’m a fat, queer, disabled cisgender woman and solo parent to one human child and 4 with fur. It’s been a passion of mine to dig into the ways that therapy has failed or perpetuated harm and to challenge myself to do better. I believe in the healing impact of relationships, and the inherent wisdom that exists in all of my clients. It’s my honor to witness and contribute to your growth, expansion and embodiment.
Dear to my heart: body liberation - helping people bring more peace into their relationship with their body. This includes a Health At Every Size and anti-diet, fat positive perspective honoring intersections of identity. With all clients I work from a social-justice and liberation-informed lens. I’m anti-racist, sex-positive and neuro-affirming. I am part of and dedicated to the LGBTQIA+ community. And I also have a tenderness and experience working with grief, assisted reproduction, and my fellow therapists.
In school I specialized in Expressive Arts Therapy, which is the use of creative process as therapy. Art experience is not required to utilize this modality, and it is completely up to my clients whether we will use it. I’ve said that I’m a good match for people who’ve been in therapy before but want to go deeper. I consider my clients the experts in their own lives, and my role is as a companion through their process. Other contributions to my work are mindfulness, self-compassion, movement, and humor.
